The Crossover Start is an effective and quick way to start moving forward and getting acceleration.
The main goal of the Crossover Start is to get very strong acceleration at the beginning of the movement. You get the acceleration not due to the rotation of the wheels and their motion, but owing to your own running start. It’s like you initially start without your rollerblades, and then when you’ve got enough momentum, you enter into the Stride step.
You need to do the Crossover Start from your usual stance: your legs are shoulder width apart, your feet are perpendicular to the way you want to go. To start, you need to start running run by pushing with the edge of your rollerblade and quickly moving alternate legs.
The more initial pushes you make, the quicker you’ll need to do the stride.
